A MISFORTUNE FOR PAKISTAN

Atiq-uz-Zaman's greatest misfortune as a more than able wicketkeeper was to have played at around the same period as Moin Khan and Rashid Latif. From 1991 to 2003, if one of them wasn't keeping, then the other was and few others got a look in. Zaman was good enough, however, even in this time of plenty, to play one Test and three ODIs for Pakistan in 2000 and do a more than adequate job in them (he took five catches in his one and only Test against Sri Lanka). Much of his good work had come in the preceding domestic seasons; he broke a longstanding record for the highest number of dismissals in a season in 2000-01 with 76 victims and also held the record for the highest number of victims in a domestic limited-overs game (6). He played three successful seasons in league cricket in England thereafter, before resurfacing on the domestic scene in Pakistan in 2007-08 with Sui Southern Gas Company. He now lives in England, where he is hoping to play county cricket.

INTERNATIONAL CAREER

Atiq represented Pakistan in 2000, the second Test against Sri Lanka at Peshawar. Where he took 5 catches and it was a great aceivement in 1st game.Atiq also represented Pakistan in one day international against South Africa and New Zealand. His 1st victim was Crag McMillan of Arshad Khan. He played side matches and tour matches against Australia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, New Zealand, Bangladesh, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Netherland, Denmark and United Arab Emirates.

CRICKET TOURS FOR PAKISTAN

He has travelled to Singapore, Sharjah and West indies with Pakistan cricket team. he has also travelled to UAE, Netherland, Kenya and Denmark with Pakistan-A Team.

1st CLASS CRICKET AS AN OVERSEAS PLAYER IN PAKISTAN

After gaining British citizenship he hoped that he could play county cricket where he could impress British selectors. So he decided to play 1st class cricket in Pakistan for SSGC. He captained the team in 3 games where he scored 222 runs with the average of 44.50.

" I was really positive that if I gain trials for any county so I will impress them with my qualities in batting and wicket keepeing and I was scoring 1000 runs in premier league cricket evry year since I gain my british nationality. I got trials with two counties where in 4 innings I scored 3 fifties but unfortunately that was not good enough (atiq, 2008)".

COUNTY CAREER

He has represented Northamptonshiore County Cricket Club and Sussex County Cricket Club. He scored 3 fifties in his four innings with the average of 65.00. He has also taken 8 cathes and stumpings behind the stumps.
